AngelRide offers opportunities for everyone to participate! In order to safely support 200+ riders, and provide a meaningful and unforgettable experience, you are needed.

Our Volunteers dedicate their personal time, energies, and skills because this cause is an important expression of their values. You will thoroughly enjoy the life lessons and personal satisfaction that comes along with the benefits of helping children in need. Thank you for sharing your gifts.

Start: Arthur C. Luf Children’s Burn Camp, Union
Finish Line: Ocean Community YMCA, Mystic

What are my Volunteering options?

Volunteer Check-In:

  • Shift Time:  Friday (Camp) 3:30pm – 5:30pm, Saturday (Camp), 6:00am – 8:30am,  Saturday (Finish) 10:00am – 12:30pm
  • Check in all registered volunteers.
  • Provide any event supplies before deploying volunteers to their assignment
  • Hand out schedules/answer any questions pertaining to assignments.
  • Lift up to 20lbs

Route Marking Team:

  • If you’re able to commit to an entire day and willing to drive and mark the route, this is for you!
  • Shift: Thursday and/or Friday before event. (May 29th and/or 30th)

Bus Greeting Team:

  • Shift Time: Friday, Mystic from 4:00pm – 6:00pm, Saturday, Union from 6:30am – 8:00am.
  • Small team of people greeting and assisting Riders with luggage and bike loading.
  • Assist bus driver hired to transport participants by acting as navigator and communications assistant.
  • Provide information, support and positivity for Riders with butterflies.
  • Lift 10-20lbs.

Traffic, Safety & Parking:

  • Shift Time: Saturday (Camp) – 5:45am – 9:00am, (Finish) 11:00am – 2:30pm or  2:00pm – 6:00pm
  • Maintains safe traffic flow at the start/finish location.
  • Manages vehicle parking area and directs vehicles to designated parking areas.
  • Checks in vehicles, (Camp location) allowing only those that are permitted to be on site.
  • Requires standing for extended periods of time.
  • Lift 20lbs.

WINGS (Water, Ice, Nutrition, Gear & Support) Team:

  • Shift Time: 6:00am – 5:30pm
  • 2 Volunteers per vehicle.
  • Drives official event vans and picks up riders and their bikes with fatigue, medical or mechanical problems and transports them to the next rest stop along the route.
  • Secure bike to bike rack for transport on the road and removes bike at next rest stop so that rider may continue riding after they’ve had a rest or had a technical issue resolved.
  • Drive official event vehicles (no personal vehicles allowed).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Lift 20-30lbs.

Sweep – WINGS:

  • Shift Time: Saturday  7:00am – 5:30pm
  • As part of WINGS Team, you will follow last Rider on the route and offer assistance where needed.
  • Always remain behind the last Rider.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Drive an official event vehicle (no personal vehicles allowed).
  • Lift 20lbs.

Moto Crew (Motorcycle Safety Team):

  • Shift Time: Saturday 6:00am – 5:30pm
  • Works with staff and local law enforcement to guarantee safe passage for riders during the event.
  • Assists at difficult intersections and other locations as requested.
  • Team members direct riders only and in no way direct vehicle traffic.
  • Team members must provide their own motorcycle and helmet and have a valid motorcycle license and insurance

Rest Stop Teams:

  • Shift Time: Various Locations & Times
  • Manage set up and break down, food distribution and traffic control at a designated rest stop location along the ride route.
  • Cross check Ride’s numbers as they enter rest stop area and report to CIC.
  • Cheer like crazy!

Bike Parking Valet:

  • Shift: Various locations and times: Start, Camp & Finish
  • Maintain bike racks at the Start, Camp & Finish sites.
  • Set up & maintain water and sports drink for Riders to fill their water bottles prior to ride out and during the finish line festival.
  • Provide security over bikes while participants are registering or enjoying the finish line festivities.
  • Serve as cheerleaders, welcoming and assisting Riders in from the route.
  • Lift up to 20lbs.

Check In/Registration Team:

  • Shift at Camp/Time: Saturday 6:00am – 9:00am
  • Check-in and register Riders for the event.
  • Collect donations.
  • Distribute wristbands and bike numbers.
  • Must be outgoing and friendly.
  • Lift up to 15lbs.

Logistics – Set Up:

  • Shift Time/Locations vary
  • Assist in the set up of registration, opening ceremony and finish line festival.
  • Distribute tables, chairs, and table covers.
  • Distribute trash & recycling bins and liners.
  • Lift 20-30lbs.

Jersey/Water Bottle Distribution Team:

  • Shift Time: 6:00am – 8:00am (Camp)
  • Distribute Rider jerseys and water bottles to participants displaying official event wristband.
  • Reference Rider Report for requested jersey size and check off name when distributed.
  • Keep area stocked, neat and organized.
  • Standing for long periods of time.
  • Lift up to 20lbs.

Medical Team:

  • Shift Time: Various Locations & Times
  • Made up of a variety of medical professionals, including RNs, MDs, EMTs and paramedics.
  • Provides First Aid medical support at each of the rest stops.
  • Provides First Aid medical support as Medical Rider.
  • Will manage emergency situations that arise until local emergency medical services arrive on the scene.
  • Must provide license/certification and proof of insurance.

Little AngelRider Team:

  • Shift Time: 1:00pm – 2:30pm
  • Assist with Little Angel’s check-in and t-shirt distribution.
  • Assist with sign making and other arts and crafts.
  • Monitor the area and keep free of hazards.

Massage/Reiki Team:

  • Shift Time: Saturday 1:00pm-3:30pm or 2:00pm-5:00pm
  • Provides essential massage/ services at the finish sites.
  • Massage therapists required to provide their own massage table.
  • Must provide license/certification and proof of insurance.

Food & Beverage Team:

  • Shift: Time & Locations vary: Start, Camp & Finish
  • Maintain the food, beverage tent areas at the Start(s) and Finish.
  • No cooking or prep required.
  • Lift 25lbs.

Cheering Stations:

  • Shift Time/Locations vary
  • Cheer on the Riders as they pass by cheer stations

Merchandise Team:

  • Shift: Finish / Time: 12:00pm – 5:00pm
  • Set up and break down retail tent.
  • Sets up and breaks down display materials and equipment.
  • Keeps area neat and attractive.
  • Interacts with participants and the public.
  • Lift up to 50lbs.

Finish Cheering Team:

  • Shift Time: 10:00am – 1:30pm and/or 1:00pm – 5:00pm
  • Cheer the Riders at the Finish Line!
  • Ring cowbells often and enthusiastically!

Logistics – Drop/Sweep

  • Shifts: Times and days vary
  • Drop off & set up Start/Finish.
  • Drop off & set up Camp.
  • Drive with Route and work with Rest Stop teams to set up/close rest stops according to schedule.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be comfortable driving 24’ box truck.
  • Lift 30lbs.

Logistics/Breakdown Team:

  • Shifts: Time/Location vary.
  • Assist in the break down of all event elements after the close of the finish line festival.
  • Ensures that site is left cleaner than when the Ride arrived on site.
  • Lift 20-30lbs.
